Japan has more than 160 volcanoes(火山）, about a third of which are active（活的）. The most famous is Fujiyama（富士山）, or Mount Fuji. It is the highest mountain in Japan(3, 776m). This cone-shaped volcano last erupted（爆发） in 1707. To the people of Japan, Fujiyama is a sacred（恐惧的）mountain. Every year thousands climb to the top of the mountain, as a spiritual pilgrimage（朝圣）.
